3 The challenge

FER has undertaken an important corporate reorganization process with the goal of redefining services, processes, organization, and information systems.
To meet the need to improve the management of internal corporate assets and adopt an advanced monitoring system to comply with agreed standards and address the inspection and control requirements of its suppliers’ activities, the company chose CARL Source Facility. The solution was integrated into the company’s systems with the support of Dinova, which made it possible to fully exploit its potential.

FER has chosen an immediate implementation method for the project for inspections relating to the sanitation and maintenance of rolling stock and the company facilities it manages.

This solution provides FER with a set of customized modules that ensure improved operational processes and simpler interfaces. These modules are dedicated to collecting events and data required for preparing reports used for the accounting and reporting of performance and contractual obligations, bonuses and penalties, as well as for monitoring service quality factors.

The CARL Touch mobile app also allows you to organize and implement inspections based on the seasonal rail timetable, following a sequence of activities optimized for train movements throughout the day. The results of the various inspections are immediately transmitted to the central application or, in the event of a network outage (offline mode), immediately after the first new connection.

The Carl Source Facility solution and the project carried out in collaboration with Dinova have provided FER with the tools for optimal management and traceability of corporate assets and have made it possible to achieve multiple benefits, including:

  • real-time visibility of the findings by railway companies for the management of disputes
  • ease of management and replanning of activities directly from central structures and individual inspectors

The collaboration between FER, CARL Berger-Levrault, and Dinova did not end with this project but is expanding with new developments to further optimize business processes and human resource management.
